1:13. வானத்தின்கீழ் நடப்பதையெல்லாம் ஞானமாய் விசாரித்து ஆராய்ச்சி செய்கிறதற்கு என் மனதைப் பிரயோகம்பண்ணினேன்; மனுபுத்திரர் இந்தக் கடுந்தொல்லையில் அடிபடும்படிக்கு தேவன் அதை அவர்களுக்கு நியமித்திருக்கிறார்.

1:13. நான் கற்றுக்கொள்ள முடிவுசெய்தேன். எனதே ஞானத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி வாழ்விலுள்ள அனைத்தையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ள விரும்பினேன். தேவன் நாம் செய்யும்படி கொடுத்த வேலைகளெல்லாம் கடினமானவை என்று நான் கற்றுக்கொண்டேன்.

1:13. I decided to carefully and thoroughly examine all that has been accomplished on earth. I concluded: God has given people a burdensome task that keeps them occupied.

1:13. I devoted myself to search for understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done under heaven. I soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race.

1:13. And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven: it is a sore travail that God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.
