17. அப்பொழுது யோய்தா, அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஜனமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, ராஜாவும் ஜனங்களும் கர்த்தரோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணவும், ராஜாவும் ஜனங்களும் ஒருவரோடொருவர் உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணவும் செய்து,

17. பிறகு கர்த்தருக்கும் அரசனுக்கும் ஜனங்களுக்கும் இடையில் யோய்தா ஒரு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்தான். இதன்படி அரசனும் ஜனங்களும் கர்த்தருக்கு உரியவர்கள். பின் யோய்தா அரசனுக்கும் ஜனங்களுக்கும் இடையில் ஓர் ஒப்பந்தம் செய்தான். அதன்படி அரசன் ஜனங்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்ய வேண்டும், ஜனங்களும் அரசனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து வாழவேண்டும்.
