17. தன் ராஜ்யத்தின் வல்லமையோடெல்லாம் தானும் தன்னோடேகூடச் செம்மைமார்க்கத்தாரும் வர, இவன் தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்புவான்; இப்படிச் செய்து கெடுதியுண்டாகும்படி அவனுக்கு ஒரு கன்னிப்பெண்ணைக் கொடுப்பான், ஆனாலும் அவளாலே ஸ்திரம்பெறான்; அவள் அவன் பட்சத்தில் நில்லாள்.

17. வடபகுதி அரசன் தனது வல்லமை அனைத்தையும் பயன்படுத்தி தென்பகுதி அரசனோடு போரிட முடிவு செய்வான். அவன் தென்பகுதி அரசனோடு ஒரு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்துகொள்வான். வடபகுதி அரசன் தனது மகள்களுள் ஒருத்தியைத் தென்பகுதி அரசனை மணந்துகொள்ளச் செய்வான். வடபகுதி அரசன் தென்பகுதி அரசனைத் தோற்கடித்து விடலாம் என்ற எண்ணத்தில் இவ்வாறு செய்வான். ஆனால் அத்திட்டங்கள் வெற்றியடையாது, அவன் திட்டங்கள் அவனுக்கு உதவாது.
