5:15. நீ எகிப்து தேசத்தில் அடிமையாயிருந்தாய் என்றும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் புறப்படப்பண்ணினார் என்றும் நினைப்பாயாக; ஆகையால் ஓய்வு நாளை ஆசரிக்க உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

5:15. நீங்கள் எகிப்து நாட்டில் அடிமைகளாக இருந்ததை மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள். உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவரது ஆற்றல் மிகுந்த கரத்தினாலும், ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து மீட்டு வந்தார். உங்களை அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து சுதந்திரமாக்கினார். இதனாலேயே ஓய்வுநாளை எப்போதும் விசேஷித்த நாளாக செய்யும்படி உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

5:15. Recall that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there by strength and power. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

5:15. Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the LORD your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.
