21:40. உத்தரவானபோது, பவுல் படிகளின்மேல் நின்று ஜனங்களைப்பார்த்துக் கையமர்த்தினான்; மிகுந்த அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று; அப்பொழுது அவன் எபிரெயுபாஷையிலே பேசத்தொடங்கினான்:

21:40. பவுல் மக்களிடம் பேச அதிகாரி அனுமதித்தான். எனவே பவுல் படிகளில் ஏறி நின்றான். மக்கள் அமைதியாக இருக்கும்படியாகக் கைகளால் சைகை செய்தான். மக்கள் அமைதியடைந்ததும் பவுல் அவர்களோடு பேசினான். அவன் யூதமொழியைப் பயன்படுத்தினான்.

21:40. When the commanding officer had given him permission, Paul stood on the steps and gestured to the people with his hand. When they had become silent, he addressed them in Aramaic,

21:40. The commander agreed, so Paul stood on the stairs and motioned to the people to be quiet. Soon a deep silence enveloped the crowd, and he addressed them in their own language, Aramaic.

21:40. And when he had given him leave, Paul, standing on the steps, motioned with his hand to the people; and when there was a great hush, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying:

21:40. And he having given him leave, Paul having stood upon the stairs, did beckon with the hand to the people, and there having been a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew dialect, saying:

21:40. The commander told Paul he could speak. So he stood on the steps and waved his hand so that the people would be quiet. The people became quiet and Paul spoke to them in Aramaic.

21:40. When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,
