13:21. அதுமுதல் தங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்; அப்படியே தேவன் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தானாகிய கீசுடைய குமாரனான சவுலை நாற்பதுவருஷகாலமாய் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.

13:21. பின் மக்கள் ஒரு மன்னன் வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டனர். தேவன் அவர்களுக்கு கீஷ் என்பவனின் மகனாகிய சவுலைக் கொடுத்தார். சவுல் பென்யமீனின் குடும்ப மரபில் வந்தவன். அவன் நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் மன்னனாக இருந்தான்.
