2:5. கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: எங்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணினவரும், அவாந்தரவெளியும், பள்ளங்களுமுள்ள தேசமும், வறட்சியும், மரண இருளுமுள்ள தேசமும், ஒருவனும் கடவாமலும் ஒரு மனுஷனும் குடியிராமலும் இருக்கிற தேசமுமான வனாந்தரத்தில் எங்களை நடத்தினவருமாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்கேயென்று உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கேளாமல்,

2:5. கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது இதுதான்: "நான், உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களிடம் நீதியுடன் இல்லை என நினைக்கிறீர்களா? அதனால்தான் அவர்கள் என்னைவிட்டு விலகிப் போனார்களா? உங்கள் முற் பிதாக்கள் பயனற்ற விக்கிரகங்களைத் தொழுதுகொண்டனர். அவர்கள், தாங்களே உதவாக்கரைகள் ஆனார்கள்.

2:5. This is what the Lord says: "What fault could your ancestors have possibly found in me that they strayed so far from me? They paid allegiance to worthless idols, and so became worthless to me.
