8:21. அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக எங்களைத் தாழ்த்துகிறதற்கும், எங்களுக்காகவும் எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகவும் எங்கள் சகல பொருள்களுக்காகவும் செவ்வையான வழியைத் தேடுகிறதற்கும், நான் அங்கே அந்த அகாவா நதியண்டையிலே உபவாசத்தைக் கூறினேன்.

8:21. அகாவா ஆற்றின் அருகில் நான், (எஸ்றா) நாம் அனைவரும் உபவாசம் இருக்கவேண்டும். தேவனுக்கு முன்னால் நம்மைப் பணிவாக்கிக்கொள்ள நாம் உபவாசம் இருக்க வேண்டும். நமக்கும், நமது பிள்ளைகளுக்கும், நமக்கு உடமையுமான எல்லாப் பொருட்களுக்கும் ஒரு பாதுகாப்பான பயணத்திற்காக நாங்கள் தேவனிடம் வேண்டிக்கொள்ள விரும்பினோம்.

8:21. I called for a fast there by the Ahava Canal, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and seek from him a safe journey for us, our children, and all our property.

8:21. And there by the Ahava Canal, I gave orders for all of us to fast and humble ourselves before our God. We prayed that he would give us a safe journey and protect us, our children, and our goods as we traveled.
