16. அப்பொழுது சிதேக்கியா ராஜா: நான் உன்னைக் கொல்லாமலும், உன் பிராணனை வாங்கத்தேடுகிற இந்த மனுஷர் கையில் உன்னை ஒப்புக்கொடாமலும் இருப்பேன் என்பதை, நமக்கு இந்த ஆத்துமாவை உண்டுபண்ணின கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று எரேமியாவுக்கு இரகசியமாய் ஆணையிட்டான்.

16. அப்பொழுது சிதேக்கியா ராஜா: நான் உன்னைக் கொல்லாமலும், உன் பிராணனை வாங்கத்தேடுகிற இந்த மனுஷர் கையில் உன்னை ஒப்புக்கொடாமலும் இருப்பேன் என்பதை, நமக்கு இந்த ஆத்துமாவை உண்டுபண்ணின கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று எரேமியாவுக்கு இரகசியமாய் ஆணையிட்டான்.

16. ஆனால் சிதேக்கியா அரசன் இரகசியமாக எரேமியாவிடம் ஒரு உறுதிமொழி செய்து கொடுத்தான். சிதேக்கியா, "கர்த்தர் நமக்கு ஜீவனும் ஆத்துமாவைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். கர்த்தர் ஜீவனோடு இருப்பது எவ்வளவு உண்மையோ அவ்வளவு உண்மை நான் உன்னைக் கொல்லமாட்டேன் என்பதும். உன்னைக் கொல்ல விரும்புகிற அந்த அதிகாரிகளிடம் உன்னைக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்றும் நான் வாக்குறுதி அளிக்கிறேன்" என்றான்.

16. அதற்கு அரசன் செதேக்கியா "நமக்கு இந்த உயிர் கொடுத்த வாழும் ஆண்டவர் மேல் ஆணை! நான் உம்மைக் கொல்லமாட்டேன். உமது உயிரைப் பறிக்கத்தேடும் இம்மனிதர் கையிலும் உம்மை ஒப்புவிக்க மாட்டேன்" என்று எரேமியாவுக்கு மறைவாக ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறினான்.
